Robotic Vision Systems Inc. ("RVSI") (NASDAQ:ROBV) today
announced that, on Jan. 23, 1998, the Hon. John Gleeson, United States
District Judge for the Eastern District of New York, granted RVSI's

General Scanning's acquisition of View Engineering Inc. in late 1996.
The Court reinstated RVSI's tortious interference claim and vacated
