Re:He's been pounding the table lately on both INTC and AMAT,

Ian,

At this point, i'm sure I do not speak only for myself when I say I would love to hear what he has been saying about AMAT. Throw us a bone....

Last year at this time he told everybody to stay away from the communications stocks such as ASND and CSCO while other tech managers such as Van Waggoner et al were loading up on them.

All that I'll say about Michael Murphy and his California Technology Newsletter is to be very wary of his predictions. Last spring, I watched him on CNBC and he predicted that CSCO would see the mid-30's and that his sources indicated that they'd miss the spring quarter by a huge margin. That turned out to be grossly wrong. Also, check the performance of the mutual fund that he manages (its named something like Monterey High Technology Fund, but I can't remember the exact name). When most funds were up 30% last summer, his was down 18%. I don't intend to get into a big discussion about this guy, but I think others should be made aware of his track record.

Personally, I hope he's right on the mark when it comes to INTC and AMAT, but I won't base my investment decisions on his advice.
