BTW how did the 30-06 caliber get so popular in the US as a deer cartridge? I think it's because the Army used those cartridges in WWI and WWII. Humans and deer are about the same size and weights

As you know the M-1 had a 7 bullet clip and we beat the Germans and Japanese with it, but you and your friends need guns with 50 round clips.....??? Why do you want an AR15??

Why are .223 popular now? Because in the 60's the Army gave up power and range for weight.
Weight was important with troops now schlepping around in body armor and field packs....about 100 lbs of gear..
And cost ....during Vietnam, the Army issued orders to not use full auto with the M16 unless necessary....
How popular is the AR15 with a 7 or 10 bullet clip??
