Why doesn't Sun colaborate with Lotus/IBM or Corel/Wordperfect to provide a complete desktop solution on Solaris that competes with what Microsoft Office provides on Windows based PCs and Macintoshes? There are companies around the world that would adopt Solaris as the desktop operating system of choice if it only supported the basic applications that are the most popular in the world. I just can't understand why computers as powerful as Unix workstations lack the basic applications that make PCs and Macintoshs so popular.
