TWY, she said that Lisinopril is safe *relative to other prescription medications for high BP*. She made it a point to mention that because no prescription drug is 100% safe. I'm guessing that you got really unlucky with your prescription. She also made it a point to say that doctors tend to overprescribe these days because they're afraid of getting sued for under-treatment. That why I mentioned that the prescribing doctor may not want to wait around for lifestyle changes, because health care liability in America focuses much more on the caregivers' responsibilities over those of the patient. In other words, if you're like Donald Trump and you eat McDonald's and KFC every day, no doctor is going to wait for you to change your lifestyle, much less try and convince you to. (They usually mention it, but of course they have no authority to tell you how you should live your life.) Instead, they'll just write you the prescription and be done with it. Better to do that than risk malpractice. Anyway, when I reached borderline BP, the doctor was pretty good. He recommended the usual "lifestyle changes" and refrained from prescribing me any medication because I was still relatively young (under 40 at the time). 40 lbs and a marathon later, my BP is back to normal. (Though these days I'm under a lot of stress, so maybe I should get myself checked out again.) Tenchusatsu
