I am getting a little "conspiracy theory" about the market. We have had the normal drop to be expected but what is going on now?

It's called algorithms. The majority of trading volume in the markets is done by computers with no human intervention.

Wild swings are due to these computers chasing each other, absolutely nothing to do with fundamentals.

The code word used in the media is "high frequency trading".
imho

The stock market is forward looking. We are currently set up for a perfect storm, economically and politically, and the market is responding accordingly.

This future ‘perfect storm’ mix involves Russiagate (a thwarted bureaucratic coup d’etat) that will shock the globe; tariffs; quantitative tightening; increased interest rates; a one trillion reduction in money supply; and the fact that the recovery cycle from 2008 is in a very late stage - recoveries do run out of steam, always.

The punch bowl is being taken away from the party.

Everything is economically and politically aligned perfectly for something very big to happen in the next few months. The stock market anticipates it.
