We need more smart people. Trust me the US demand for smart people exceeds our supply. I have no issue with more smart people entering the USA.

I'm very discouraged right now, too. GWB, at least, had his party behind him, and Trump doesn't. The Omnibus Bill was very telling. The Omnibus bill showed that McConnel was a total failure. He got more Democrat votes than Republican. That's not normal, and not (IMO) to be read as a new pattern of things to come. I gave up 2nd guessing Mr Trump and won't start now. He usually wins.

I manage a business that requires above average intelligence, conscientiousness and drive from its employees. It also takes about 4 years of development to start working independently and proficiently on the typical complex tax. All the promised growth in this country with the tax cuts and repatriation of funds is going to run into a huge problem, a shortage of good candidates. The young and intelligent good workers are not having a hard time getting to work in many fields. If the H-1B visas address this concern, it may be necessary. But my guess is tech industry is using it to drive down wages.
