The trade-off for little regulation has to be overwhelming costs when negligence is proven.

My WAG is that this doesnt slow down the move to AV much. The real test will be when (not if) Waymo has a serious accident that is their fault.

Where were these ex-employees before this?

A number of their engineers went on to work for other companies in the "self driving" area. It's pretty fluid.

What was Uber, which I at least think has a huge amount of money, thinking?! They obviously didn't test the change enough.

I just want to know what sensor were on and the data stream should be entirely recorded in the car from all of them.

If NTSB gets involved we will eventually find out.

Looks like the Volvo's built in collision avoidance system was turned off.

Lots of questions that will eventually be answered.
