<<<<but none of the tax rates from that time to now, would result in balanced budgets with current spending>>>>

Well duh! You are just ignorant as to how much of the rest of the world is able to provide the services you seem to hate without running up the huge deficits we do. Some of the generous social programs in other countries make us look like a third world country in our stinginess. Is there room for improvements to cut waste and some overly zealous programs - of course! But to say we just can't pay for these programs is nothing more than Fox nonsensical ideologies.

As soon as republicans took control of the entire government they took us from record surpluses to record debt after they cut taxes. You may argue Clinton and Democrats were just lucky and I'd say I'd rather have their luck than decades of lies about tax cuts giving us balanced budgets.

This generation of tax cutters created 20x more debt than all previous generations combined. It's necessary to blame everyone and everything but them if you fell for their lies.
