You write that like they are ancient history.

They aren't. In the Dallas Metroplex, there were many places in north Dallas that were dry until 2010. Liquor stores are still few and far between. You still can see a lot of "liquor stores" that sell only beer and wine.

In Canada you are compelled by law to use the gender pronoun any individual chooses for themselves. This type of legislation imposes a barrier to the basic problem solving utility of free speech.
