"We cleaned up our mess by forcing LBJ to not seek reelection"
You mean we forced the US to elect Nixon.

"Should we have left him in office."
Interesting question. What did we gain by getting rid of him, besides Nixon and 6 or 7 more years of war?

"You were a hippie at Berkeley in the 60's as you like to point out, didn't you demonstrate against LBJ and the war?"
I helped create Raygun, as I also like to point out.

"Well, one day back in 64, Raygun turned on his TV and saw Rat somewhere in the crowd at an FSM thing, and the next day he was on TV saying, 'Those damn kids in Berkeley. I'm running for governor.' . Then Nixon saw Rat in an anti-war march, and said, 'You damn hippies are a disgrace to the Silent Majority, but you'll make me president'.

In alternative history, if the FSM didn't happen, Pat Brown beats Raygun in '66, LBJ ends the war in '71, Bobby doesn't get killed on the campaign trail cuz he didn't run, the Dems do all the good things R's ever did, and do it better, both in Calif and the US, and we're living in an all-green electrical world, with the fear of global warming in the rearview mirror.

Would I give up my FSM button and a few war marches for that world? Ya betcha.

Nixon had a secret plan to end the Vietnam War.
