For the life of me I cannot understand how putting a server one place vs. another matters one iota other than if someone wants physical access to its components (notably, hard drives). You know, as long as you have good bandwidth.

But it DOES matter in terms of the security of the contents -- you want it in a place where someone won't maliciously get to and most importantly, so that State Dept professionals can oversee it, so you know it is getting patches applied on schedule, backups (which are apparently not your run-of-the-mill backup arrangements), and other things.

She was blasted by State's IG for it, but the most telling aspect of it, I think, was the fact that it operated for months without a security certificate -- the only real guarantee of provenance for an email.

I don't know, maybe I make too much of it, but for me it was a show-stopper in an era where cyber security is among the greatest problems we face as a country. Which is true, IMO.

At one point Trump pissed me off and I really considered whether I could vote for HRC. I stopped when considering the email server but I don't think I could have. And the other candidates held no interest for me. Living in Arkansas it doesn't matter. Arkansans aren't going to support a Clinton again forever, I don't think. Pulaski (Little Rock) and Jefferson (Pine Bluff) counties will, and a couple on the Delta with few people in them will, but other than that, Clinton never had a chance here.
