Yeah and I can't think of anywhere else I'd want to live... crazy appreciation on homes here to has costs to pay restaurant and store workers a bundle which really hurts those who don't own a lot of stocks or real estate and just "retired" here with a lot of cash because they were bearish.... Min wage is $15/hr in Mtn View and "only" $13.50 in Los Altos... but I see help wanted signs for kitchen staff at $16/hr plus a share of tips. Servers at our favorite fancy Chinese place in low rent Daly City make over $100K a year working split lunch/dinner shifts and the floor managers make $150K or so I'm told.... of course dim sum lunch for two with just tea to drink can easily run $60 with the 20% tip I leave and $120 or so for a dinner special when we bring my GF's mother (it is her favorite place so a good excuse to get her out of the house for a drive.)
