The Information Age took over. That's how progress works. The US did the right thing from Clinton to Obama (including Bush II) outsourcing jobs overseas for cheaper labor and importing deflation. Trump is trying to reverse a trend that is doomed to fail. The Trump tax cuts are good for business, but his trade policies are poison. US has become a high tech powerhouse, the leader of the world. In the end, it was beneficial to outsource. There are always winners and losers in every economic cycle and period. The key to becoming a success in business in the real world (main street) is to provide a service that is (or will be) in demand, where one can profit immensely.

I am no dogmatic Democrat when it comes to free trade and entrepreneurship. I am very pro market. Where I differ from the Republicans is that I'm a humanist and believe in single payer universal healthcare and free college tuition for children of families earning under 125K a year.

Also, I'm dovish in regard to foreign policy.

It was better for the US economy and the Market to get rid of those domestic over-inflationary manufacturing and industrial jobs and export them overseas. Where I differ is that the Government should have provided free educational services and extended unemployment benefits (with a nice increase) until those people got back on their feet again.

I have tutored enough Russians in my day and the real bright ones have always told me that when an American says they have majored (or are majoring) in engineering, they end up smiling because that's the basic major in Russia, the equivalent of US general liberal Arts and Science degree.
