That is sure as hell what they want us to believe. Have you ever seen a corporation, or rich person ask for higher taxes.

In the 50's taxes were much higher on the rich and corporation and we had a booming economy and vibrant middle class.

Most corporations pay much less than in other countries and many pay no taxes and in fact we subsidize many corporations.

If you faced reality, you would see whoever has the power makes the rules to benefit them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I.e. lower taxes.

So who has the power? The rich or the poor???

It is common sense, which does not seem to be very common on the right!

The right wing rank and file has been duped.

Raising taxes on corporations would probably be counterproductive.

On the rich possibly so as well in the longer run, through the negative incentives higher taxes would create, but you could make a better case here. Better case but not a reasonable case that it would be enough. From WWII on we've had top personal income tax rates from 90+% down to 28%. None of those rates has ever brought in enough sustained revenue as a percentage of the economy to cover future entitlement costs.
