Yeah, Metformin and statins are looking to have some effect on prostate cancer. My oncologist co-authored some early studies on metformin a long time ago. I’m going to try to get back on it.

One of the difficulties is in knowing whether there are covariants at work that confuse the statistics. For example, in the case of statins for a long time they’ve been unsure whether they cause you to make less psa. My psa dropped by half after I was diagnosed, after I had gone on statins.

I think recent research is suggesting both metformin and statins can be protective. I see no downside in getting back on metformin if the pathology is all good.

If I didn’t already have it I’d probably be on both of them knowing what I know now. Even though both are off label for prostate cancer.
