Who cares? Americans no longer want to live in a society in which gun deaths are much, much higher than in other Western democracies.

IF the CDC study is accurate, gun control that's actually effective enough and enforced enough to significantly reduce the number of guns (which is unlikely in the first place) might increase the extent that the US is a country where gun deaths are higher than other western democracies.

Your negative look at guns seems to dismiss completely that almost all gun users use them with extreme care. Much of rural America continues to hunt and guns are just a normal part of their lives. They look with horror at the mass shootings just like everyone else. Democrats can over play this and screw up - just as they did when Trump was elected. Hillary and her image as being against gun ownership - rightly or wrongly being her true position - and failing to empathize with rural America gave us Trump. The people in the extreme left areas of the country feel just like you do - BUT, those places are already democratic. Sure San Francisco might move to 90% against gun ownership - but so what. What does that accomplish?
