Which IMHO is going to be the very interesting thing to watch in NK. What happens to the House of Kim if NK really does try to modernize? Plenty of people in NK would love to see Fat Kim in front of an AA battery. I'm sure Kim knows this, so will take precautions...

Glasnost wasn't "free elections". It was openness, greater transparency and the freedom to criticize the government. It was part of a plan to try to keep the communist part in power, not a scheme to let people vote them out of power.
