The people afraid of being shot in the Safeway parking lot are at much less risk of being murdered by other means. If gun control really doesn't make them less likely to be murdered than either it doesn't actually decrease their chance to be shot and killed, or it increases their chance to be killed by other means. The evidence suggests that gun control doesn't decrease their chance to be murdered (Suggests only, its not enough to be definitive.) Of course if its the former, that gun control hasn't reduced the chance to be shot, then you can argue that some new improved gun control will be different, but I think its reasonable to skeptical. They will do so with or without guns. But if the woman can arm herself she can stand a better chance of surviving a murderous attack from an ex whether or not he is armed. But a person walking down the street is not at much risk unless they are in high risk areas That's true with or without gun control. Take high risk areas out of the picture and murder rates with guns or total are pretty low in the US.
