SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 13 (Reuters) - Splash Technology
Holdings Inc on Tuesday said it sees a slowdown in the
company's growth as it enters 1998.
"Some of the dynamics in our market are combining to
indicate slower growth for 1998 than we have seen in 1997,"
Chief Executive Officer Kevin Macgillivray, said in a
statement.
Earlier, Splash reported an operating profit of $0.29 a
share on sales of $22.2 million versus a profit of $0.29 a
share on sales of $15.3 million one year ago. Including a $26.9
million charge, Splash reported a net loss of $1.65 a share in
the December quarter.
The December quarter's share profit was based on 14.2
million shares outstanding versus 12.1 million one year ago.
The Dec. quarter also was a stub quarter as the company is
changing its accounting to a calendar year basis.
Macgillivray said Splash is seeing buying patterns change
with ome of its original equipment manufacturer partners.
Splash also expects quarterly revenue patterns to shift
during 1998 with March being the weakest quarter.
Finally, he said Splash will continue to invest heavily in
product and market development for 1998, 1999 and beyond.

In terms of numbers in the quarters, it is good but it is the forecast for 1998 that is going to determine the price of the stock. I was going to buy this a.m. but in doing the research last night found that 8 insiders sold 149k shares at 28.74 avg price in December. Kind of gave me a pause and the price moved up nicely. I guess will have to wait for a pull back, if there is one.
