Instead of writing it off in 2017, they should never have started this thing. Who in his right mind would think it's a bright idea to try and take a chunk of the server mkt from the gorilla? Has it been easy for Intel to take a chunk of Q's modem mkt? Who else, other than Apple, uses Intel modems? Do you doubt Intel loses money on every modem they sell to Apple?

So, if you are correct, then QCOM indeed has virtually nothing to show for all its efforts and will simply take a loss

.....no ....not nothing to show for it..............but they should have known that AMD would be their real competition to break into the Intel server monopoly......AMD can force Intel to substantially lower prices across the large MAJORITY of the server stack without customers having deal with software issues.....so as a customer, who you going to support??.......still, even for the cloud, volume adoption takes time.......look at EPYC..........only two cloud providers on board so far after almost a year..
