Ronald,

OFF TOPIC

<< Why work when the government will take care of me. Can you tell me that the average Canadian isn't paying to the state (government) 65% of every $ that you earn?;-)>>

With all due respect to my American friends .... I'd would live north of the 49th any day of the week. While our taxes are higher - we do get more services/have a much lower crime rate/have a good medical system _available to all/ a good education system/ etc. were are far from perfect - but relatively speaking, Canada is a great country to live in. It behooves me that a country like the US - another great country, does not have a medical plan for its citizens. Canada does - and it operates at about 35% less per capita than yours does - with equal to, or better outcome measurements. Does that make us "better" .. of course not .... _maybe a little healthier.

I agree, people should not get something for nothing (and getting something for nothing _was too easy in Canada) - but the reality is, in some cases, some members of our society are not (through no particular fault of their own) as capable at taking care of themselves as you and me. What would you suggest we do with these people?

To summarize your thesis with the statement <<Can you tell me that the average Canadian isn't paying to the state (government) 65% of every $ that you earn?;-)>> is specious. If the measure of a successful society is the % of taxes you pay, and the lower the better, than by your own measure, there are infinitly better places to live than in the US.

If you are going to compare apples with apples, OK .... but IMHO your thesis is sophistical diatribe at best. Let's get back to talking gold .... or start another thread.
