Clapper also said the election was determined by Russia. That without their help Trump would not have been elected. Originally I thought that was silly - I no longer believe that. I think the wrong person was declared the winner. BUT the idea of Hillary being President gives me the willies and I suspect we would now be in the middle of impeachment proceedings and so how is that any better than where we are now. ...........If Hillary had been elected - would you be against trying to curb her mischief? If she wanted to open up our borders would you have justified some restraints put on her by the courts?

The investigation of the Russians was to protect the country!!

I think you're hitting on something. I think the FBI/CIA will try to defend their actions on the basis they were protecting the democracy from a madman. The other day, Clapper got close to this defense. He admitted to the unlawful surveillance but claimed it was justified.
