I'm really sorry to hear that, i-node, and I hope your surgery was successful. As for UAMS, I could share horror stories with you about that place. It started going downhill about 25 years ago when people of means started going out-of-state or to private clinics that offered multiple services in one place. Now it's become a place mainly for the indigent or for Medicare/Medicaid recipients.

I have a high school friend who still works there in a parttime teaching capacity. He thinks its still a fine teaching facility but says the interns are being asked to do more than they are properly prepared for. He also said private donations have steadily dropped off, partly because so much money is donated right here in NW Arkansas.

He thinks, though, that many state teaching hospitals across the country are having similar issues.
