CNBC Squawk Box discussed Teradyne and how bad one of the analysts dropped the ball on it. A guest manager said TER was one of his picks and said the analyst should get the "Golden Fleece" award.

They displayed two paragraphs from the analyst, one from Oct, then another 2 months later. The one in Oct pounded the table on TER, raised the target from 65-ish to $78, and raised estimates. The stock was at mid-50s at that point. Then, 2 months later as the stock sunk to 30, the analyst lowered estimates by a nickel for this year and .20 for next year but put 1999 estimates at $3.10. Then he had the nerve to downgrade the stock from 1 to 3, pushed price target to high 30s from his previous $78, but still held the enormous growth rate.

They were all laughing at that. The guest manager said TER is very attractive at these prices. He also included a number of semi equip manufacturers as well as Seagate and Quantum. The disk drives I still plan on staying away from until the other shoe drops. There are real fundamental changes in the disk drives while TER has gotten punished while their fundamentals haven't changes substantially.
