Hmmm, very interesting, thanks... it's certainly something to investigate for those preparing college/university entry... definitely... for me, I went to undergraduate college on the G.I. Bill, and I went to graduate school for my masters as a research assistant, and for my Ph.D. I attended and completed my program with an instructorship which meant I was teaching two undergraduate courses along with my studies, that paid for my education tuition, all room and board was paid for my by hard working wife who held two jobs all those years...

The problem I have with these “income” categories is that a 250k on Long Island is a helluva lot different than many, many other locations. Parents get taxed and fee’d up the ass, making it that much harder to save for college.......
Many bright kids default to community colleges (of course the state is trying to counteract this by offering “free” tuition) and state schools, leaving the private school seats for those with 4.4gpa’s, so called “minorities”, and for folks that can secure all sorts of financial aid based on a lower nominal income.

No need to go any further with my thoughts about this as to not clutter this thread.

But it’s not where kids start, it’s where they finish.
