Trump needed a deal after he failed so miserably at the G7 Summit. The media all but ignored his failure because he's white. Imagine if a black president was called "incoherent" by our allies.

Kim is faced with crippling sanctions. That's what he would fall back to. He would keep the nukes but also keep the sanctions.

The sanctions are the key to everything. Trump took them farther than did any other POTUS. Trump even threatened to blockade ships that tried to slip through. Trump got China, SK, Japan and Russia to cooperate to the fullest.

Even though Sam suggested it, I find it difficult to believe that Trump would start relaxing the sanctions right now. At the same time, I can envision Kim doing a little, Trump relaxing a little, and so on, and in that scenario Kim could play Trump. So it will come down basically to what Kim wants and that's why I said the ball is in Kim's court and Kim will move on his own timetable. All Trump has are the sanctions.

Kim can go the way of his ancestors or he can choose a new path for his country. Only time will tell, of course. People are making pronouncements when we're really just out of the starting gate.
