<< China has already backed off Trump's tough sanctions and is now suggesting that the UN should drop them.>>

I can't google any proof of this. Do you have a link?

In searching for it, I reviewed the history of all the sanctions as they unfolded month by month. In the beginning China balked, protested somewhat, but steadily ceded ground to Trump's request. The real gut punch came from China when it banned imports of coal from NK. At that point, Kim could see he had lost his lifeline, probably.

Reviewing the history also drove home the point I've been trying to make about the stars being lined up. Each important player came in at the right time and did the right thing, it seems to me. It was collaborative at its best.
