"They don't want chain migration either"
"I've got mine, screw you".

Did your family get here thru chain migration? Mine did.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you here Katelew - but I'm also completely against the wasteful spending for a wall and absolutely against the inhumane separation of children from parents. Gawd, how anyone can even utter the thought of family values and then play this stunt that Trump did is way beyond any reasonable acceptance of Trumps ideology in my mind.

Easy; Once confronted at the border - the families stay together and get processed almost immediately. The majority I imagine will be sent back but can do so as a family unit! If Trump needs more money for processing - give it to him.

My town has been inundated by people from south of the border. They are hungry for jobs - and take the labor intensive jobs which is making the homeless situation skyrocket. My thinking is the homeless situation is aggravated by socially and economically low rung people being out-competed and giving up. There is almost zero assimilation into the community.

Could democrats overplay this issue? You bet! But so can Trump, which it looks like he has managed to do.

The problem is that Trump is never fair, and he is mean and ignorant and appeals to the racists in his base. so it is hard to do a deal with him.

He said, I heard him: "I am greedy and I want to be greedy for you." I don't believe in being greedy.

He will continue to be cruel, because he like being cruel, but now the American people are on to him and so are the courts and his lack of humanity will cost you the house in November--watch. And then all hell will break out at the house investigates all the Republican criminality.

I think Democrats are open to reasonable immigration laws, but Trump,Ryan and racist Sessions don't do reasonable.

So we have to fight with them for something reasonable.

Why do you think Trump backed down? Well wait until they start putting thousands of kids into military prisons with the people watching!
