"Try to find any article in the MSM, if you can, that advances merit based immigration"

Here's one which makes the case for it

The data shows that when immigrants are selected and are vetted, we have better outcomes. Including multi-generational results.

What data are you talking about? The same data that shows that Mexico sends its worst people north? Murderers, rapists, lazy people who just want to take advantage of our so generous welfare systems?

Merit based. It likely would allowed one of my grandfathers in the country who actually was brought here with a job, but the other one would not been allowed. He was a 14 year kid who didn't speak any English and was just trying to get out of Russia to avoid pogroms. From what I gather it likely would have disallowed Trump's mother. Along with millions of other people.

What the article was saying was that virtually everything about Trump's characterization of immigrants--legal and illegal--is simply wrong. In fact, it is ridiculously wrong. There have been fewer undocumented immigrants coming to the States for 10 years now. They don't commit more crimes than other people living here. They contribute more economically than they cost. He is just whipping people into a frenzy over ... nothing. Just as he has with tariffs, he ignores real problems and "attacks" fake ones. And in the process, he alienates way more people and countries than he inspires.
