You can't just hope they are going to start changing their minds and stay home while conditions there remain awful. So go in there make a presence and shake up the place - but then get out almost immediately. Something has to be done to stem the tide - if for no other reason Americans can stop hating each other.

We need to offer our help there to solve the problem here. Like what? Which is why I asked. Get back into the nation-building business? Send troops and trainers to shape up their law enforcement? Send money to help them develop, maybe build factories and offshore our jobs there? Assassinate the bad guys at the top? Invite all the nice ones to come here? Overthrow the government, take over, and make them another Puerto Rico? Not good options. There are a lot of nasty places in the world.
