OK... so there were other indicators in conjunction with the AD. True about sharp declines like the brutal one in Aug 2015 and other darn flash crashes. I was pretty new and stupid in 2000.., good thing I didn't have much money - colleges, mortgages, etc. In 2008, I had a short term trader attitude - which means I was mostly in cash. So didn't do badly, even though for the wrong reason. Here is an interesting one... one of the simple ideas of the kind I like. PMO signals on the monthly charts... it took a little too long to get back into the market - early 2017 - but, I don't see any whipsaws. That counts for something.
