Hi Kirk,

That is a good question.

I track the SS via an email update.

The last report I show will pay me 2783 @ FRA and 3704 if deferred to 70.I do not know if the family cap applies?
The total family benefit (for survivors) can not be more than 4884 but it requires me to die - don't want to go there.LOL

I had the planned to file and suspend and then Jan take mine - but that was nixed with law rewrites.

Probably should pay a service to analyze our situation (Maximize my SS).

I guess it is time to get serious about how to max out my SS.

Have been thinking wait to 70 is the way to fly - almost $1000 dollars more for the rest of my life. I do know that it you take SS at 70 you will break even when attaining the age of 82.5.

Time flies and an awareness of that thought catches up quickly in one's later years.

To be fair - I've focussed on investments that support my later years and not rely on the government at all.

The trees are an example.

I always put most of my income into stocks and did not defer a lot in my 401K wanted to get the taxation already behind me.

For a long time I've wanted to build a long term dividend prortfolio (lowest tax rates).

That takes a lot of time to do properly.

I've used as a goal the idea of Buy semi's in 2003-2004.

Buy banks in 2008-2009

Buy energy in 20016-2017.

I missed the banks in 2008 - focused on eliminating all margin and only buying dividend paying stocks.

So far being 3 years in - I've held all of my long term accumulation of chip and chip equipment stocks.
Diversified into F, T, KMI, ESV, GSK, HCP.

Hoping that the semi's get a strong run and I'll swap them into XOM and some more T. Looking at HON as well and Emerson electric.

Would like to have another Pharma - that may well be the next to get a big dip if/when government controls prices.

So far our dividends are just now equal to what our day time job working salaries were just before we considered retiring.

My lifestyle has been modest and having two homes keeps me busy through out the year.

I've finished most of 3 cars and have 3 more to complete.

My summer gardening is a fun and full time job. I'm completing my last upgrade to a garden at the school house (it has taken 3 weeks). I'm cutting retaining wall toppers with a german saw and replacing the poor soil with peat moss black cow manure and miracle grow garden soil.

Did that with my other raised garden beds and I'm having a very good growth in all for all things planted.

A 50 cent seedling in a $5.00 soil bed makes even me look pretty good!

I'll Post some facebook pics - Early Girl tomatoes are all over the cages top rung.

Peppers are exploding Jalapeno and serrano - sweet peppers are the best I've ever had.

Salad lettuce and romaine lettuce are really providing great tender salads.

Caution Salsa Factory at work.LOL

Rant over - must get to work.

Bob
