Those 5 gyres could be useful. . Lets say we take the clean up responsibility off the worlds governments hands for a few $$bill and a promise to have these gyres "passivated" so they are no longer a pollution hazard. With a bit of new technology we can turn them into floating islands (five new states the size of Texas) and we have a brand new real estate opportunity ! We could be leading the pack on this one, we could be shilling the shills right now. Even if the idea turns out to be a complete disaster, we could simply take the money and run. It's what is expected these days. How hard is that?
