Twitter is invaluable. For relevant real time news at very least. And selected commentary also, yes.
Appreciate your list of faves .... will investigate those.

For those so inclined to explore further ... and are using PCs with MS Outlook ..
Get TwInbox app (free). Install, then login via twitter during setup.
Then set Archive for "Home" (Outlook's default folder name for tweets) to 1 day delete or you will flood over.
I keep THAT folder open in Outlook, not my main email account.
Because if I'm at my PC, regular mail arrivals will alert me via the brief notifications down by the clock.
