Yes, being a Republican doesn't exclude a President from being 'stoopid' .... Bush (snr) and Bush (jnr) did some 'stoopid' things .... "Read My Lips" and "We're invading Iraq because of all those WMD's" ... It was the economic direction that came from Ronald Reagan that boosted the American economy and got growth up to about 7%. But that took time to really take hold. And Clinton actually benefited from what Reagan put in place. Clinton was far too busy messing around with interns and he did virtually nothing for the American economy. So when he left office there was a "big pile of cash in the bank". Bush(jnr) then arrived and pissed most of it away with his "wars". Most of the past presidents have a legal background, so what the hell do they know bout making sensible decisions with regard to the economy and other important business aspects of the country. They've usually needed "advisers" to tell them what to do .... which is crazy, bearing in mind some of the "experts" that we've seen. The way I see it, Donald Trump "utilized" the Republican Party in order to use its structure to get into the White House. IMO, the GOP now needs Trump more than he needs them. As we've seen lately, when he pitches up and verbally supports a candidate who is looking to be elected, that has boosted that candidate's chances enormously ....
