Poodle,

If I understand your question correctly and I'll phrase it another way--

What are they looking at in this paper from looking at the abstract?

I have not read the full paper, I would suggest this if you are really interested in knowing the facts.

From the abstract, they are investigating the use of both phentolamine and papaverine separately and combined. The results were positive in 13 out of 15 patients tested when a combination of papaverine and phenolamine were used.

6 of the 15 patients were found to have positive results when injected with papaverine alone

1 of the 15 patients was found to have a positive result when injected with phentolamine alone.

Papaverine causes problems after long term use. I don't know the source of the problem or what the deleterious effects are.
