Steve, re: "If TXN were to bid on AMD what would you call a fair price (per share)?"

I don't have a clue, I'm anything but an investment banker. Looked up the "book value", it's $14.41 per share (per Yahoo). Probably someone else on this thread better qualified to answer.

It would be hard for me to believe that the industry would let AMD go under, there is value to their technology and position as #2 in MPU's beyond their book value, IMHO. But who wants to up against Intel with a company that business model is to lose money on each unit they sell?

John

Steve,

If TI or whoever were to take over AMD, they have to get rid of the non-profitable x86 business. Given the non-x86 business is shrinking quarter by quarter, the fair bid would be $4 to $5 a share at best.

Intel still dominant and forever,
John.
