Seems to me this is an example of the kind of hyped attribution of shortcomings to prejudice that compromises legitimate causes for equality. That women are held to a higher standard does not mean that's the essence of the issue with this woman.

And yet... as the article suggests, is Paul Ryan ready for prime time?

For example, Paul Ryan’s been fact-checked for years and he’s still considered an ideas man. PolitiFact has collected some of Ryan’s “pants on fire” claims, like:
No one saw these statements and said Ryan is unfit to serve in Congress. No one told him to go put training wheels back on. No one told him he wasn’t ready for primetime.

And he is just one of many.

Or is "being mistaken" and outright lying just what is to be expected from folks like Ryan and McConnell who hold leadership positions in Congress? They aren't being naive when they lie, they are being shrewdly partisan, unlike poor Ocasio-Cortez.

I do somewhat agree with Sam. If you read Ocasio-Cortez's entry on Wikipedia vs Paul Ryan's prior to winning his first house seat, there it not so much difference. I would say Ocasio-Cortez has better academics at a minimum, and likely is smarter than Ryan.
