Your calculation for Model III is totally wrong.
The compound annual rate of return for Model III
since inception 3-01-90 to the present is 11.2% per annum.
And remember, this conservative portfolio has a current
beta of only 0.43 and invests only 50% of assets in the
stock market with the other 50% invested in the bond market.
So with only one-half exposure to the stock market this
portfolio has compounded at 11.2% for the past eight years
since inception. Looks like pretty good stuff to me.
During this time original $40,000 investment has grown to
$93,321 according to the January 9 Marketimer. And all of this
has happened with a very low overall risk exposure.
