TopCat, every tax season my wife and I itemized our deductions. A big chunk of that was state income taxes. Another big chunk was mortgage interest. We also make modest but significant charitable donations.

Two of those deductions were cut, which represents a big tax increase given the brackets we're in. They might be offset by the lower tax rates, but I'd have to look into that further.

Doesn't matter, though. I already anticipated an increase to our tax liability for this year. And I agree with one of the deductions eventually going away, namely the mortgage interest deduction.
