Gary,

My point was that in the long run (at a minimum - 2 years from now) - Open GL has the potential to mature - and cheaper generic 3d cards will perform at 95% of 3dfx chips. This would be similar to how Creative Lab audio cards and Hayse modems used to be the best - but now people buy whatever they want and get 95% of the quality (I'm not even sure Hayse is even in business anymore)
