In exchange for the mostly unregulated roll-out that self driving cars are seeing right now, there should be an absolute requirement that these companies make ALL of their data available. The data from Tesla today is good to hear, but it is woefully incomplete. We need apples to apples comparisons. How does Autopilot do versus cars without Autopilot? How about AP versus non-AP on highways? in cities? at night?

Some of the data wont make self driving cars look good but transparency matters and will help in the long run.

Wonder why Tesla included the near misses?...NHTSA doesn't.

As for as making ALL cos giving out data....don't think that will happen...if one could trust ALL of them in the first place..

Tesla with Auto pilot engaged vs Tesla w/out Auto pilot engaged is perhaps a 'better' comparison.

It's oranges to oranges....but doesn't evaluate the human factor....which I consider the worst wild card out there.

NHTSA just put out that the Model 3 is has best survivability car tested out there>.fwiw

Tesla drivers tend to use the Autopilot more on safer roads such as freeways. More expensive cars are involved in fewer accidents, they have fewer young drivers at greater risk.
