California sees $9 billion surplus, passes budget to help poor ...

Jun 15, 2018
The budget both stores some of the state's windfall in its rainy day fund, and increases spending on assistance for people living in poverty as well as programs combatting homelessness. The surplus is the state's largest since at least 2000.

Mindmeld,
Anyway, California minus Silicon Valley is a disaster.
Californian socialism would not be possible without capitalism driven by high-tech.

Even then, there isn't much of a "middle class" here. You're either filthy rich, or you're struggling to make ends meet.

Kind of tells you something when, in Christine Ford's current home city of Palo Alto, a 1,000 ft2 run-down shack sells for $3M.
