Who owns Adaptec stock? I had heard (maybe on this thread) that institutions own about 80 percent. Out of curiosity I did a bit of research. Turns out that 533 institutions* own Adaptec, holding 88.9 percent of its shares. This is one major factor in its volatility. (* an institution was defined as: banks, insurance companies, or mutual funds with equity assets over $100 million.) This compares to institutions owning about only 54 percent of Intel. Starowl
