>>This comment, in conjunction with management changes, sounds to me like BNGO is shifting its focus somewhat

I agree. The founder of a company doesn't just up and quit to "pursue other endeavors" just when the company is on the brink of success. This is BIG, BIG, BIG. Wilson was forced out. The only question is why?

I do not agree that it was because "he screwed up". The company had a great 1997, and the founder (and biggest shareholder) of the company doesn't get pushed aside because some shareholders are unhappy about the short term stock price. And even so, as founder, he would have at least retained his seat on the Board. I mean, it is remarkable that the founder of this very young company has been reduced to an "advisor".

My speculation is that a major philosophical battle was fought regarding the future direction of the company, and Wilson lost big time - so big, in fact, that he apparently didn't even have enough support to retain his seat on the Board. Or, was he so disgusted that he no longer wanted to be associated with the company. Will he unload his BNGO shares?

I can only speculate about the nature of that battle:
Could it have been a VGM vs. bingo battle? Wilson founded the company to consolidate the charitable bingo market. Maybe he was disenchanted with the ever increasing focus on VGMs. Maybe there was bitter disagreement concerning future acquisitions or concerning the makeup of the Board.

Without more information, one is left to speculate.
