Volker was the worst, the absolute worst Fed Chairman in US History. He is an evil man who hiked the fed rate to over 20%. Destroyed many, many people's lives. He also broke a decade of stagflation which destroyed many, many, many, many, many peoples lives. He had no good choices, I think he made the best one in those circumstances. Was he really worse than Greenspan who inflated bubble after bubble? It may have felt good at the time, but the hangover sucked.
