Thanks.

I did a full CT scan in Manila a year ago as part of an extensive heart check up. The whole process took less than two hours, and included a CT scan and something called nuclear medicine where they inject some mysterious radiation-related thing into your system and measure your heart while you are on a treadmill getting the heartbeat rate up to some necessary level, and they did a CT scan both before and after

Cost to the hospital - A bit of doctor time, and a few super expensive machines.

It was just a check up.

I can't recall the exact cost, but it was about $800, give or take.

The end result - my heart is fine.

That shouldn't cost $6,000. But I guess, in the USA, it does.

Hi John, it is amazing what we do pay here in the US for some services compared to elsewhere.
My folks were doing one of the river cruises earlier this year in Europe, while in port my Mom fainted (she's in her 80's) and they ambulanced her to the local hospital in Rotterdam.
She gave them her BCBS insurance card and all was handled and fully reimbursed.
We received 2 bills to pay, ambulance bill was 778 euros, and the bill for the CT scan was 275 euros!!
Cost $40 each for the 2 international wire transfers to pay the bills.
