A Twitter user quipped that Fox News would need to hire a translator to understand Ocasio-Cortez’s "roasts." The Latina from the Bronx jokingly responded that Fox News “has made it clear that they are far superior to [and] more intelligent than me, who they’ve called a ‘little, simple person.’ ” The incoming congresswoman has verbally sparred with Fox News since she said the network “gleefully” cracked jokes about her finances and wardrobe choices. Ocasio-Cortez, who became the youngest woman in history elected to Congress in this year's midterm election, worked as a bartender before pulling off an upset victory over incumbent Democrat Rep. Joseph Crowley (N.Y.) in the primary election in June. She has spoken publicly in recent weeks about how she will need to wait for her congressional salary to kick in before she can afford to rent an apartment in D.C. A Fox News panel laughed at her situation, calling it a “brilliant political line” and knocked her for wearing designer clothes during photoshoots.
