John I've been following this stuff for years since I used to work in broadcast television engineering. The bit rate for video is tremendous. My big beefs with the various encoding techniques is the loss of picture quality. There is still lots of room for inprovement. The "pipes" have to get a lot bigger not to mention the electronics to handle the bandwidth. Digital video has tremendous potential, keeping video in the digital domain is the way to go...source to end user display! regards Eric
